Vitran Announces Improved Service Standards: In today's competitive environment, customers are demanding improved service times, superior quality, and lower costs. With that in mind, Vitran has re-engineered its entire terminal and linehaul network. Our ability to make this change is a result of our new, fully integrated U.S. platform, which was completed last October. This is important to Vitran, as it will allow us to compete in this economic climate while providing a superior service offering for our customers. To achieve this initiative, the company will simplify its linehaul network so that freight density and load synergies are realized to reduce transit times. We will load more direct linehauls with little or no short haul business going through a break-bulk facility. This will result in 19% of our current business being handled at least one less time. The by-product of this change is better quality handling, less likelihood of damage, and improved service by one day to over 100,000 origin and destination points. The re-engineering will not result in any areas currently serviced by Vitran being abandoned or turned over to an interline agent. In fact, Vitran will service more points direct than before. These changes are scheduled for implementation by Monday, April 13, 2009. As always, Vitran will continue to be on the cutting edge of service requirements to meet the needs of our customers.
